A couple called the police after the mother of the child they were watching failed to show up to collect her child. The couple agreed to watch the boyfriend’s ex’s kid on the grounds that she pick him up by 9 am the next morning -a requirement that was outlined and made crystal clear. The thing is: It’s not even either of their kid. Although the woman is the boyfriend’s ex, he is not the child’s father.
When the mother failed to show the couple began to grow worried and was forced to cancel their plans for the day. When the mother finally did get in touch, she let them know that she would not be there until 2 pm. The girlfriend of the couple let her know that if she was not there by noon they were going to be calling the police.

The commenters were less than sympathetic towards the mother in the comment section.
“NTA,” voted user Temporary Badger. “I’m very glad you called because this woman very much needs CPS to be keeping an eye on the health and safety of her child.”
“NTA,” said user 0biterdicta. “She was supposed to pick him up at 9 am. She didn’t. She said she would get him at 2 pm, and was still an hour late. She was warned you would call the police and still rolled up late to her suggested late pickup time. I just feel bad for the kid being put through this scary experience. You and your boyfriend might want to consider a security system.”
“I felt terrible for the kid honestly,” responded the original poster to this comment. “But I didn’t know what else to do. If we kept him, she would’ve just kept doing it to us. The policemen were very nice to him though and explained he was just going to go with them for a little bit until somebody came to get him. He was excited he got to ride in the police car, at least.”
