It’s one thing to get ghosted in the dating scene, it’s quite another when it’s a potential employer.
This thread, which was posted to Reddit’s r/antiwork subreddit, explains that it was allegedly the third time this happened to the original poster. According to the comments, he is not alone. We’ve seen plenty of instances of strange hiring processes, from impersonal video recordings to awkward interview questions. I personally have also been ghosted by an HR lady, only to be stood up again after scheduling a follow-up. But that company since went under, so who’s laughing now, Stephanie?!
It’s crazy that everyone complains about how no one wants to work these days when we can’t even get our interviews scheduled. Once again, the burden seems to be placed on employees and not the wildly disorganized people at the helm of the hiring process. This will certainly not be the last time we will hear of this. The best way to combat this kind of behavior is to put your foot down when this messy lack of professionalism presents itself, like when these candidates all walked out of their respective interviews.
