We don’t want customers to ingest sadness now, do we?
This woman discovered the man she probably thought she would marry had been cheating on her and so naturally, she came into her bakery job feeling depressed the following week. Apparently, a week was too long and her bosses felt the need to send an absolutely ridiculous email telling her to “fake it till you make it” at work so that she doesn’t bake grief into the food she was making. Yes, that wasn’t a typo. You read that correctly.
This thread was posted to Reddit’s r/antiwork subreddit by u/Plenty-Artichoke7924, who got permission from her new coworker (the woman from the story) to post the email. The good news here is that it seems that the baker immediately started looking for a different job after receiving the email and found a nice ally in her new coworker. Look, we get that in small work environments, one employee’s mood can affect the whole atmosphere, but this woman was allowed to feel this way for as long as she wanted. In addition to the weird “woo woo” comments from her former bosses, the fact that they encouraged her to go to therapy also raises several red flags. Thankfully, this woman is out of there, and hopefully, no customers will taste any sadness in their treats.
We’ve seen countless stories of horrible bosses crossing the line. Like this one where an employee discovered that all the men on her team refer to her as Jessica Rabbit.
