After reading this thread, I’m beginning to wonder if I should have been a childcare giver. This whole writing thing has been nice, but $120k a year is nothing to shake a stick at — and I make a mean grilled cheese sandwich. This Redditor, u/aitarealjob, posted their story to Reddit’s r/AmItheA**hole subreddit, wondering if they were in the wrong for their response to their prejudiced parents. After continual harassment and rude suggestions from their parents about their line of work, this nanny decided to set the story straight. They shocked their parents by revealing how much money they are earning in their current position taking care of two special needs kids. The nanny’s parents then put their crosshairs on the nanny’s siblings and began comparing their incomes to their nanny sibling.
The nanny is wondering if they are in the wrong for telling their parents how much they make and setting the record straight. Are they? Let us know.
