That’s what happened when this idiot boss cost their employee and their company a $300,000 sale, from which the employee was set to earn a $30,000 commission. The boss’s repeated insistence that client’s payment come through to the penny, despite transaction fees, caused the client to back out of the deal.
If I were to chalk this up to an old saying, it would probably be that this boss should have “seen the forest for the trees,” meaning that they should have looked at the bigger picture of what this sale could mean and not been so focused on petty trifles.
