Teenagers will be teenagers, but also helicopter moms will be helicopter moms! This story is further proof of both of these facts. This thread was posted to Reddit’s r/AmITheA**hole subreddit, and let’s just say that folks in the comments section were pretty divided about who was actually in the right here.
Initially, it seemed like people were in agreement that the Mom’s punishment fit the son’s crime. He did tell her to eff off after all, which, you know, is not ideal language. However, if you keep scrolling through the screenshots below, you will see that one person in the comments saw through some of the Redditor’s narrative framing and instead authored a compelling takedown of her behavior that honestly has me convinced. Removing the TV from his room is a fair punishment, but refusing to replace the door (the door that she herself broke) is a violation of her son’s privacy. Besides, it’s best for all parties that the teenage boy gets to keep the door to his bedroom closed. No one needs to see what goes on in there.
