Let’s be real here: being late is annoying, but being unnecessarily strict is more annoying. That definitely seemed to be the case in this high school, where fully grown teenagers had to line up every morning before the first period officially started (seriously? what century are we in?). This one particular student, who shared their story via this thread on Reddit’s r/MaliciousCompliance subreddit, decided that since they were already late, they might as well get breakfast for everyone.
We know that this student is going to grow up to be that coworker who always walks into the meeting late with an iced coffee and a pastry. Sometimes, we envy that coworker and sometimes, we find them infuriating. In this scenario, it seems like both the student and the teacher were pushing each other’s buttons and therefore are both at fault here. One takeaway that’s crystal clear, though, is that being insanely strict does not necessarily deliver the intended results.
