Unless you’re joining the army or another position that requires conformity, why do you have to change your appearance for any job? Even remote jobs will often require certain hair colors and dress codes. Honestly, it’s annoying. You already control 8 or more hours of my day, why do you have to try and control my self expression too? Like, trust your employees to dress appropriately for certain job occasions, like a big fancy meeting with important people, but also don’t ask them to completely erase who they are because of some antiquated societal norm. Ya know what I mean?
A woman on TikTok sure does. She’s a seasonal worker—have the time of the year she’s working and the other have she’s traveling in her RV with her partner and their dogs and exploring nature. It honestly sounds like a great time. It seems like her top priority is to be able to be true to herself and live her best life. She, of course, needs a job, but she doesn’t let her career define her. So when corporate said she was not allowed to have pink hair anymore, she decided to comply in her own way. Now, she goes to work and she sure doesn’t have pink hair. Instead, she wraps her long pretty pink hair up and wears the silliest looking wigs she has.
